Houston, We Have A Problem

Local unsigned band Houston We Have A Problem, are currently amidst releasing their first mini EP.

Members

Jak Higson – Guitar
Tom From – Drums
Ste Heart – Vox
Mark Walker – Guitar
Ian Kay – Bass

The announced track list includes Machine, Siren and Dan Hibiki!

I’ve been speaking to Tom and he seems very excited about their upcoming tracks.

It is quite clear from speaking to Tom, the band are giving a constant 110%. You can hear on the track “Machine”, the hard work is definitely paying off!

Machine

Tom sent me the track not so long ago, and immediately I was struck by the quality and professional sound of the track! I was half expecting a low quality, poorly mixed demo track with muffled vocals, over bearing beats and blurry riffs. Instead I was blown away by a track which could be passed off as from being from a signed band, recorded in a professional studio with aid from a producer.

The vocals are really strong, backed up by a heavy beat and beautifully distorted riff work. Listening to their new track, I reminisce over when I was 16 and new metal was still the “In Thing” and music had that groove and anger that made me fall in love with Metal all those years ago.

Houston we have a problem have a heavy, modern metal feel, and from what I have heard so far, stand far out from the crowd.

I can officially say that they can now count me as another in their already growing fan base.

Bring me the horizons new album, Suicide season – cut up

When I first heard of Bring me the horizons intentions to release a “Cut Up” version of their latest album, Suicide Season, I was a little sceptical to say the least.

I was pleasantly surprised by their efforts, Suicide Season – cut up is actually a pretty damn good album!

They got together a group of musicians and producers to remix their latest album, and pretty much turn it into a dance/trance/Hip Hop/Drum & Bass album. While keeping a metal/alternative feel to the tracks, which was mainly down to Ollie Sykes Vocals.

Just like the original album. The album is catchy, upbeat and definitely makes you want to dance. Bringing a new side of their talents to our ears, proving Bring me the horizon definitely have some worth and lasting recognition in the metal scene, proving they aren’t going to be just another one trick band.

The only thing that really disappointed me about their new album is the fact a lot of the amazing guitar work from Lee Malia (Lead Guitar), is left out a lot, in favor of synthesized versions of his works.

Flash on the IPhone

It’s been lying by the side oft desk for a while now. But yesterday I noticed that a cardboard cut out of an iPhone, which came with my explicit White silicon iPhone 3G case, had a flash icon on the menu.

Apologies for the blurry nature of the picture, it was taken with an iPhone.

A part of me thinks that maybe some companies are promoting the practice of “jailbreaking” an iPhone.

Honestly tho, the limits of having video on the 3G is annoying me

Change to MNFM

Hi all,

Just a quick post to let you all know i’ve had a tinker with the ethos of MNFM.

Basically as well as promoting unsigned bands from the UK, MNFM is now looking to promote bands from around the globe. We’re just looking for good music!
